This sucks!

Just realized I haven't had a decent practice since I started writing this blog :-( I've been feeling too crappy ever since my last attempt... Headache, stuffed nose and this damn cough keeping me awake at night. It's been more than a week now. I was starting to think a spell wouldn't be enough to get rid of this bug AND I've had total overload at work all week. I hate it when I'm not well and have too much at work to be able to relax and get well. All the same, feeling a little better today and I'll give practice a shot again tomorrow.

Got an e-mail from 'my' teacher Morning Star the other day telling me she's back. She went to Goa for a couple of weeks and I didn't know when I went to practice with her two weeks ago. She opened her own shala in the southern suburbs recently and it's a bit too far away for me to be going there regularly, so I don't see her as much as I used to. I'll go again tomorrow. I MISS HER SO MUCH!!!

Time to hit the sack. We switch to daylight saving tonight and I'll try to compensate for the hour we're loosing. Guess my diurnal rhythm will get screwed up for a week or so. I'm soooo fucking sensitive to these changes.

Cold

Believe it or not, there was a drop in the temperature during Easter and it has stayed below zero degrees (celsius of course ;-). It's also been snowing on and of for several days, and for the fist time this winter it's actually still some laying on the ground! I knew it would, eventually... it always does.

Went to practice last night after work. Didn't feel very well on my way to the shala, but like so many times before I knew that that would all go away once a hit the mat. Started of with the sun salutations and after the first five A:s I just remembered that yoga is supposed to feel good! This didn't... I even felt worse then before which has NEVER happened to me. Thought my head was going to explode! Did a few more and then decided, for the first time ever, to call it off. This is a whole new experience! I've never chickened out right after sun sals and I still feel a bit guilty about it. On the other hand I'm kinda pleased with myself for listening to my body :)

This effing cold bugs me though. It's the second one I catch in a month's time and I'm sick of it!!!! Can someone please put a spell on me and make this go away? TIA.

Meme-me

This meme (is it really what would be considered a meme???) has been circulating in the community for the last week or so, but I saw it at Beautiful Anna’s place first so I’ll respond to her :)

I just noticed that Carl invented his very own version of this kind of game and I must say it’s hilarious! But since he claims it as HIS and for no one else to use without his approbation in writing, I’ll just stick to this one.

So here it goes:

12. Have you ever dyed your hair? If so what color? In my younger days my hair dresser experimented quite a bit with my hair, mostly brighter red, purple and once she even managed to dye it blond (or rather yellow…) after that she turned it pink in an attempt to dye it back to red.

13. Pets? Not anymore

14. Favorite cake? Anything with lots of chocolate in it!

15. Last movie you saw? No country for old men

16. Favorite day of the year? My birthday :)

17. What do you do to vent anger? If possible, talk (or shout) it out with the object in question

18. What was your favorite toy as a child? Paper dolls (or rather the paper, felt pens and scissors I used for making them!)

19. What is your favorite, fall or spring? Spring (hello light, welcome life!)

20. Hugs or kisses? First hugs, then kisses

21. Cherry or Blueberry? Cherry

22. Do you want your friends to respond? That would be nice :)

23. Who is most likely to respond? Probably no one (since not very many will read this…)

24. Who is least likely to respond? Well, IF he reads this, I don’t believe Carl would respond because he jests this whole thing ;-)

25. Living arrangements? Apartment in the centre of Stockholm

26. When was the last time you cried? March 6, when I learned that my nice had been born!

Clean

Easter Monday is a holiday in Sweden, so no work today! Although it’s been a looooong weekend, I’ve been putting of cleaning the house every day. Today I finally got around to do it. Especially the bathroom needed a good scrubbing. Look how nice it looks now :)

Over at the Squirrel Cage Laksmi has put up pictures of the beautiful curtain she finished for their bathroom. How very nice to have a WINDOW in your bathroom! I’ve always wished I had that. Hard to come by when you live in an apartment in the city, though… I created a fake window in my bathroom using these gorgeous, green glass mosaic tiles. I just LOVE glass mosaic!!! All in all I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out, the bathroom that is. Went through some bad shit with the contractors I hired to do the job, but that’s another story!

No practice today. Shala was closed due to the holiday and I was just too lazy to do some home practice. And I still have a bad cough and clogged sinus from the cold I caught last week. Neti just don’t seem to help this one… Anyway, tomorrow I’ll practice. I will.

New kid(s) on the block

The other day Driste posted something that reminded me of why blogs (and all kinds of virtual communication over the internet) fascinates me so much. Almost 15 years ago, when the www started to evolve and people around me was talking about how they met other people over the internet, I was instigated to explore this world more deeply – WHAT HAPPENS WHEN PEOPLE COMMUNICATE VIA THE INTERNET????

In those days there was only text (and maybe some pictures), no video or sound. So how could people get close without being able to see face expressions, body language or hear the tone of each other’s voices? Obviously, all over the world people are connecting and building deep relations and they have never even met! Ok, this is no news. I mean, don’t we all know SOMEONE who met their partner or developed a deep friendship with someone on the other side of the world (or at least not in their own physical surroundings) with internet as the ‘helping hand’?

Now, even though interaction on the internet in many different forms have played a huge part in my life for the last 15 years, the blogging culture didn’t really appeal to me… I guess, to me, blogging appeared to be more of a kind of one-way communication and it didn’t interest me. And since I never felt I had anything to tell a faceless audience, I didn’t feel the need to write a blog (or publish a website) about myself.

…not until I discovered that the other big part of my life, ashtanga yoga, connects so many people in the blogosphere! For the last couple of months I’ve learned a bunch about yoga (and some other stuff ;-) from others personal envisagements, their success and their shortcomings. I feel for the people I read about and the fellowship and the bonds that are tied move me.

Not so long ago (with a little help from Princess Laksmi :-) I took a giant leap and started commenting on a few of the blogs I read. It has increased, and I’m beginning to think that maybe, MAYBE, I have something to contribute? At least, I feel that I should give these magnificent people the possibility to get to know me as well. Am I to take part of this community I need to put myself out there too! It’s only fair… (ok, I have a few more reasons for blogging, but I’ll keep those for another post!)

So Chitta, hold your breath and – push ‘Publish Post’!

Oh, and the picture portraits my niece, Bumblebee, who was born almost three weeks ago. She is only a couple of days old in this picture but isn’t she an angel?! As you can imagine, I’m very proud of my brother and I will be the best auntie ever :-)
